This course trains you to be an exercise-based rehabilitation and fitness specialist, able to apply clinical reasoning to sport- and fitness-related injuries while you develop practical skills in rehabilitation. You put learning into practice via real-life opportunities at our on-site Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation Clinic, Community Exercise Clinics and work-based placement with industry experts.

The Physiotherapy programme teaches students to assess and treat patients with temporary or long-term physical injuries, movement disorders or disabilities. The goal is to achieve the highest possible degree of recovery, activity, participation and quality of life. Graduates may work as an independent physiotherapist or as a member of a healthcare team. There are currently more than 200 students from over 30 different countries studying Physiotherapy at Hanze UAS. The majority of students studying Physiotherapy is European. The Master in Exercise and Sports Physiotherapy is designed to provide students with the skills and resources necessary to become sports physiotherapists and prevent and treat injuries as well as achieve rapid recoveries in injured athletes, all while being part of a multidisciplinary team. As part of the sports physiotherapy masters, students will cover many areas including injury prevention, diagnosis, functional rehabilitation, and pathology and medicine.

Our BSc Sports Therapy provides you with the knowledge base to underpin your practical skills and expertise in order to become eligible to register as a sports therapist. Our course focuses on employability and self-development, supporting you to become an autonomous practitioner upon graduation, confident in your practice yet aware of the need for continuing professional development.

Our British Association of Sports Rehabilitators and Trainers (BASRaT) accredited BSc (Hons) Sports Rehabilitation will help you apply academic and practical skills to the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries arising from physical activity. You’ll complete a minimum of 400 hours of clinical placement with our industry partners including Sale Sharks RUFC, Accrington Stanley FC and Widnes Warriors Hockey Club. In addition, you’ll use our industry-standard facilities such as our sports injury clinic and our sports science laboratories. You’ll study minutes from Manchester home to two of the world’s largest football clubs.
