Occupational therapy is a dynamic, internationally-recognized health profession concerned with enabling occupation to promote health, well-being, social inclusion, and social justice at the individual, family, community, and societal levels. Using diverse modalities of teaching combined with experiential learning and research, the MScOT program prepares future occupational therapists for meaningful occupation-based practice by providing a venue of critical thinking, collaboration, a local-to-global perspective, and a focus on social justice and equity. The Government of Canada recently announced a cap on new study permits. We have been assured that this cap will not affect incoming Master’s or Doctoral applicants; however, Graduate Diploma (GDip) program applicants are affected. The Master of Science (M.Sc.) program in the Faculty of Health Sciences offers majors in Addictions Counselling, Health Sciences, ​and Nursing. Based on a cohort model, this program is designed to satisfy the needs of students interested in pursuing a master’s degree in a health-related area.

The Master of Science in Kinesiology (MSc) is a thesis-based degree program that offers students an opportunity to train in a world-class facility with state-of-the-art equipment and leading faculty researchers.

The MSc degree of the University of Prince Edward Island requires the demonstration of a reasonable mastery of a concentrated field of study. The latter is attested by the achieving of satisfactory standings in the minimum number of graduate courses required by the respective Faculty, the completion of a research project, and the writing of a thesis based upon the research.

This institution has been granted consent by the Minister of Colleges and Universities to offer this degree program for a five-year term starting June 25, 2021.
