Our MA Education Master's is a flexible course for anyone interested in critically exploring contemporary education. We offer a full-time route and a part-time route so you can study at a pace that suits you.

Our Program meets demands for better higher educational provision for the charity workforce, as well as demands from donors for a greater understanding of the meaning and purpose of philanthropy. It is delivered by academics trained in a wide range of relevant disciplines including social policy, business, history, sociology, geography, moral philosophy, anthropology, law, and economics.

The MA in Education is offered in Swansea University’s School of Education (SUSE). The MA is a flexible program, reflecting the nature of education including education research, policy and practice.

This course combines intensive movement-based studio practice, collaborative facilitations, seminars, and a shared research unit with other MA students which creates a learning environment that encourages personal exploration, collaboration and critical reflection. The Sesame approach is underpinned by Jungian psychology and draws together Laban movement, play theory, Billy Lindkvist’s work with movement with touch and sound, and a mythopoetic approach to the psyche. There is also the opportunity for immersive practice in the key subject areas of Laban movement, myth, movement with touch and sound, and drama. This is allied with studies in developmental and analytical psychology, specifically the work of Jung. The group process is central to the student experience and supported by a weekly session across the first three terms that explores interpersonal dynamics between members and draws from group analytic theory.

The SOAS MA in Medical Anthropology and Mental Health facilitates understanding of health from diverse perspectives and investigates the complexity of human suffering, as well as varied forms of healing and treatment. The programme offers training in anthropological approaches to the major health and mental health challenges of our time.

MA Adult Nursing will enable you to work towards becoming a qualified nurse though the Nursing and Midwifery Council registration via an accelerated route and gain a highly regarded master’s qualification. During the programme, you’ll spend half of your time learning the theory and the other half of your time gaining practical clinical experience in hospital and community settings working alongside qualified assessors and supervisors. As well as your time on clinical placements, you’ll also develop your skills in our simulation suites which allow you to practice complex healthcare scenarios in a safe and supportive environment.

This course aims to enable an in-depth knowledge and understanding of leadership practice in Health and Social Care, informed by current scholarly research and including a critical awareness of current issues and developments at the forefront of this field.

The MA gives a 360-degree perspective on child protection, introducing you to the viewpoints of academics, practitioners, organizations, parents, children and young people, integrated with contemporary research theory and policy. The impact that technology has on protecting children as well as the effect of the globalisation of the abuse and exploitation of vulnerable children is considered throughout.

This unique course brings together people from diverse walks of life and parts of the globe to explore how we can care for refugees more effectively. Through lively seminar discussion we unpack refugee experiences as multi-dimensional and complex, and explore psychosocial perspectives and different types of intervention and activism. We discuss how we may become more therapeutic in our work with refugees, beyond merely offering psychotherapy. Through our course, you gain skills in challenging negative and limiting stereotypes of asylum seekers and refugees as traumatised, passive recipients of help. You also gain new insight into effective humanitarian work with refugees and have a special opportunity to visit an Asylum Tribunal and learn from judges about how the UK asylum system operates. This Program is closely associated with Centre for Trauma Asylum and Refugees.
