Career Opportunities
Europe is the continent with the oldest population in the world. Currently, the European population over 60 years of age exceeds 200 million people. Thus, there are increasingly more programs aimed at older people aimed at improving their quality of life, both in the case of older people who age healthily and those who do so with some degree of dependency.
In the case of Galicia, the development of services for older people in the Welfare area is also shaping the demand for psychologists for this area. Thus, in the month of April of this year, the first job offer for Day Centers for senior care was announced in several municipalities. In all of them the offer includes “Psychological intervention” positions for which the title of psychologist is required; The functions and examination syllabus of these positions largely adjust to the training offer of this postgraduate course.
The proposed interuniversity postgraduate program will train specialists capable of performing qualified work in Geriatric Residences, Day Centers, Community Centers, Town Halls, Mental Health Centers, Rehabilitation Centers, Research Centers, Respite Units, Dependency Centers, Home help services, Telecare and private practice with older people and/or their families.
