Nursing is a profession with a concrete expression, a developed body of knowledge, a specific art, and its own code of ethics, essential to the promotion of life and health in populations.
At Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP), we work to train highly qualified healthcare professionals capable of providing efficient and effective care, combining the humanization of care with innovation and technology. For this, we conduct research to offer excellence in education.
The Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa lasts 4 academic years, divided into 8 semesters (240 ECTS). In northern Portugal, it is taught at the School of Nursing - Porto and grants the undergraduate degree necessary to obtain the professional title of nurse, essential for practicing the profession in Portugal or any other country in the world.

Merit Scholarships for the Nursing Degree
1st Year
Admission Grade: 50% secondary school average + 50% entrance exam scores.
- 100% Merit Scholarship – Student with the highest admission grade.
- 80% Merit Scholarship – Students with an admission grade ≥16.5.
- 50% Merit Scholarship – Students with an admission grade ≥15.5.
Note: These scholarships are automatically awarded based on admission grades.
Subsequent Years
Annual Average of the Previous Year (60 ECTS):
- 100% Merit Scholarship – Student with the highest annual average.
- 80% Merit Scholarship – Two students with an annual average ≥16.5.
- 50% Merit Scholarship – Two students with an annual average ≥15.5.
- 25% Merit Scholarship – Two students with an annual average ≥15 (or, regardless of grade, the 2nd and 3rd highest averages).
