Overview
The MSc in Occupational Health is a full-time program which provides a multidisciplinary approach to occupational health management in the workplace, including occupational medicine and hygiene, ergonomics, epidemiology, psychology, public health, risk assessment and management, law and training and development. The course is suitable for individuals already working in occupational safety and health such as health & safety advisors, health and safety officers and occupational health nurses and self-employed health and safety practitioners. The course is also suitable for those who want to build a new career in this area, for example, nurses, HR personnel, public health and social science graduates and psychologists.
Learning Outcomes
- Interpret and apply legislative requirements, industry standards, and best practices in a variety of workplaces.
- Apply risk management principles to anticipate, identify, evaluate and control physical, chemical, biological and psychosocial hazards.
- Collect, manage, and interpret information and data to identify trends and issues in the workplace.
- Design, support, and evaluate health and safety programs and implement procedures using project management principles and processes appropriate to the task.
- Affect/manage change by advancing OH principles within management systems, cultures, practices, and priorities.
- Apply basic adult learning and assessment principles in the design, development, and delivery of training and information for differing levels within the workplace.

There are a number of different skills and experience that would be gained by an MSc in Occupational Health program:
