Curriculum
Course Structure
The course will run over 12 months if taken full-time. There is also scope to undertake this programme on a part-time basis, with up to five years to complete studies.
Accreditation of prior learning may be considered.
Term One
In the one year full time programme you'll study the following modules in Term one:
- Advances in Nursing Science
- Creating and Applying Evidence
- Option module*

Term Two
In the one year full time programme you'll study the following modules in Term two:
- Current Issues in Health
- Applied Leadership and Management
- Option module*

Research Dissertation
You'll undertake a research investigation, under the guidance of a supervisor, after determining an appropriate methodology for the inquiry task, and subject to module lead approval. The dissertation will be up to 10,000 words in length. The investigation can take the form of a systematic review or thematic synthesis or project involving fieldwork (subject to appropriate ethical and/or governance requirements). Outcomes of the study will be contextualized in terms of clinical significance and potential for transformation of services, or care delivery, or improving patient care or healthcare professional education or policy.

Program delivery
Course delivery
This programme is available both one year full-time or up to five years part-time. You’ll learn from world-leading academics and researchers at a top 100 UK university. From the outset we’ll challenge and encourage you to become an independent and self-motivated learner.
This course consists of 120 credits of taught modules and a 60 credit research project.
- Taught modules - delivered through a blend of learning approaches, including lectures, seminars, small group tutorials, workshops, 1:1 supervision and group discussions.
- Research Project - your research project will be on a topic of your choice, supervised by leading academics and researchers.
- Assessments - assessments vary across the modules and include written assignments, presentations, OSCEs and unseen exams.
