Introduction
King University’s online Post-MSN Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate builds upon your MSN education and prepares you to practice as Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. It is designed to be completed in 16 months on a full-time schedule. Nursing faculty will conduct a gap analysis to ensure courses completed in your MSN degree are applicable to the post-MSN AGACNP certificate.
Coursework is delivered in a flexible online format designed for working nurses with busy schedules. The cohort model prioritizes collaboration with peers and our experienced nursing faculty. You will study topics like adult acute care, acute care diagnosis, and advanced pathophysiology to prepare for the next phase of your career. In addition, you will complete 600 clinical practicum hours under the guidance of a faculty member and a practice-based, faculty-approved preceptor.
When you finish the program, you will have the theoretical knowledge and practical experience you need to sit for Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). An unencumbered RN license and an MSN degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited school are required for admission to this program.
