In Spain we see as more and more pharmacies, doctors and other health professionals and parasanitarios are promoting the use of medicinal plants as a complement or in some cases substitutes for conventional medicines by empirical studies that show in many cases the reduction of the effects collateral health that can cause other complementary problems. It is already very common to find in the pharmacies and shopping centers plants such as valerian, milk thistle, mint, turmeric, dandelion, etc. that through capsules, infusions or as spices can be used for daily use. According to data from the year 2002 in Spain, the Pharmacy represents approximately 40% of the sales of phytotherapy products. These sales grow by 8 to 10% year-on-year, while those corresponding to herbalists / large stores decrease or remain stable, according to IMS growth data in Europe.

In the rest of Europe, where the market for medicinal plants is much more developed, sales growth is estimated at around 3% year-on-year.
