The largest business school in the South and part of a major research institution, Georgia State University's J. Mack Robinson College of Business has 200 faculty, 8,000 students and 80,000 alumni.

Applicants to Georgia State are classified as “international” if they meet any of the following criteria:
- Students who are in the U.S. on a non-immigrant visa (B-1, H-1, J-1, etc.)
- Students who are living outside the U.S. will require an F-1 visa to study in the U.S.
- Students who are in the process of applying for Permanent Residency status but have not yet received the Permanent Residency Card
- Students who have been educated outside the U.S.
In addition to meeting all of the admission requirements for your graduate business program of interest, as an international student you must also submit the following materials by the appropriate deadline:
- Proof of English proficiency if English is not your first language. See English proficiency requirements and list of university approved exempt countries.
- Official evaluations of all foreign transcripts -
- An evaluation of your international credentials for degree equivalency is required as part of the application if you are applying to the J. Mack Robinson College of Business.
- The Office of Graduate Admissions will make every attempt to evaluate your credential in-house.
English Proficiency
In addition to meeting all other applicable requirements for admission, non-native speakers of English must demonstrate sufficient English-language proficiency. Proof of English proficiency can be demonstrated through one of the following:
- Proof of baccalaureate or graduate degree completion inside (from an accredited institution) or outside the U.S., where English is the country's official language – see list of countries approved by Georgia State University that satisfy this requirement.
- TOEFL scores (paper or Internet-based)
- IELTS scores
- Completion of a University System of Georgia approved ESL program
Any applicant whose country of birth is English-speaking (as listed on the GSU English Proficiency Exemption List) is not subject to the English-Proficiency requirement.
Visa Requirements
After you receive your I-20 or DS-2019 from Georgia State, it is time to apply for your visa. Your F-1 or J-1 visa will allow you to enter the United States to begin your studies. You will use your I-20 or DS-2019 from Georgia State to apply for or renew your view, following these steps:
- Pay your SEVIS I-901 Fee. You will need your SEVIS ID to make this payment, which is located on your I-20 or DS-2019.
- Complete the Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application, Form DS-160, and print the application form confirmation page to bring to your interview.
- Make a visa appointment at the nearest U.S. Consulate or Embassy using your I-20 or DS-2019 and your I-901 fee payment receipt.
- Your visa will not be issued until 120 days before the start date on your I-20 or DS-2019. You may attend a visa appointment before the visa issuance date, but keep in mind that you will need to wait for your visa to be issued.
- Obtain your visa and make your travel plans before classes begin at Georgia State. Do not purchase your airplane ticket before you receive your visa.
Scholarships and Funding
We understand that graduate school requires a significant investment. We offer graduate assistantship (GA) opportunities to support outstanding students in pursuit of their academic goals.
Applicants who submit completed applications are automatically considered for Graduate Assistantship (GA) awards.
- GA awards vary per program, but criteria include superior academic and career achievement, varied and meaningful personal experiences, strong interpersonal skills, and leadership potential.
- GA positions are highly selective.
- If you are selected for a GA award, you will be notified upon admission.
What does a Graduate Assistantship entail?
Graduate assistantships fall into two primary categories:
- Academic - Academic graduate assistants work closely with faculty on research projects and initiatives.
- Administrative - Administrative graduate assistants provide support to college of business departments.
Graduate assistantships work commitments range from 12-16 hours per week depending on the GA award.
