The education laws from 1898 (art.89) state that “pharmaceutical and dental education” are part of the Faculty of Medicine in Bucharest, regarding “the courses and laboratories, as well as the placements in hospitals and mandatory examinations which must be passed in order to obtain the title of Dentist”. Nevertheless, the stipulations of these laws concerning the education of dentists were not officially enforced back then.

The Faculty of Medicine was first established in 1867, so that, according to the decree accompanying this decision, “the existing departments of the secondary school of medicine became faculty departments starting with the 1867-1868 academic year”, and “the tenured professors of these departments holding the academic title of Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) became faculty professors”.
