The practice of biomedical engineering has a long history. One of the earliest examples is a wood and leather prosthetic toe found on a 3,000-year-old Egyptian mummy. Before that, even simple crutches and walking sticks were a form of engineered assistive devices, and the first person to fashion a splint for a broken bone could be considered to have been an early biomedical engineer. 

Nursing is an art and a science dedicated to educating individuals in protecting people from diseases, improving the physical and psychological well-being of patients by delivering the health care instructed by the doctor, and planning, applying, and checking the patient care.

The program is unique in public Cypriot university education and offers excellent theoretical training and a high level of clinical competence across the spectrum of nursing science, taking into account the modern multicultural environment, the overall needs of users of health and care services, in the European and Cypriot institutional framework .
