Our Nursing program, approved by the Arizona State Board of Nursing and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), will prepare you with the fundamental skills necessary to be successful as a nurse assistant, licensed practical nurse (LPN), or registered nurse (RN) in a variety of acute, long-term, and community-based healthcare settings.

The Pharmacy Technician program consists of both classroom and clinical education and provides students with the skills and knowledge they need to qualify for entry-level positions in retail and chain, hospital, and mail-order pharmacies. Pharmacy technicians help licensed pharmacists prepare prescription medications, provide customer service, and perform administrative duties. Their duties include receiving prescription requests, counting tablets, packaging, compounding, labeling bottles, and recording of drugs. Hospital duties include making drug mixtures to fight infection, preparing cancer medications, and making 24-hour liquid food. Technicians perform administrative functions such as answering phones, stocking shelves and operating cash registers.

The AAS degree in Emergency Medical & Health Services requires the completion of the Paramedic certificate (69 credits) and an additional 42 credits of required degree courses. With the exception of EMC 200, students may take all of the required degree courses in advance of the Paramedic certificate program. With TCC's EMHS AAS degree, you'll have the option to work as a Paramedic. You'll also have the option to go further along this career Pathway. The EMHS AAS degree prepares you to transfer into Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) programs, such as TCC's Community Health BAS program.

The Medical Assistant program prepares students as multi-skilled health care workers who function as assistants to physicians and other health care professionals in a variety of ambulatory care settings. The responsibilities of the medical assistant include administrative and clinical duties.

Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs) who have achieved certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) are multi-skilled Allied Health Professionals specifically educated and cross-trained to perform a broad scope of BOTH administrative and clinical duties within a medical facility. The demand for CMAs (AAMA) is evidenced by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics' projection that medical assisting is one of the fastest growing professions, increasing by more than 18% (much faster than average) through the year 2030.

The Nursing Associate Degree program prepares students to work as entry-level nurses in doctors’ offices, acute care and rehabilitation settings, long-term care facilities, ambulatory and community centers, medical centers, and hospitals, among others. The applied science portion of the program has two major components: the theory/didactic/lab component and the clinical externship component.

The Medical Laboratory Technician program prepares men and women to work under the supervision of the medical laboratory scientist, pathologist, or another qualified physician in a medical laboratory. A technician performs tests that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

This associate degree nursing curriculum prepares individuals with the knowledge, abilities, and skills to practice nursing independently and interdependently through the application of the nursing process to provide safe nursing care to individuals and families across the lifespan in a variety of settings.

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College is a two year Associate in Applied Science Degree program. A new DMS class is selected each year to begin the program in the fall semester.

The Berkeley College Health Sciences programs are a great way to enter the in-demand healthcare field. You’ll have the option of choosing a certificate program in Patient Care Technician or Surgical Processing Technician or opting for the Associate’s degree program in Health Sciences. Many students complete one of the certificate programs and then continue on toward a degree to broaden their career options and increase their earning potential.

Nursing courses are open only to students who are officially admitted to the nursing career ladder curriculum. This program provides advanced nursing theory and clinical practice in caring for adults, children, and families to prepare graduates for entry-level positions in hospitals, long-term care facilities, medical offices, home health, and other community settings. Students who satisfactorily complete the associate degree nursing program are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination-Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN) as a step in obtaining licensure as a registered nurse (RN).

Prepare for a dynamic and rewarding career in the rapidly growing field of diagnostic medical sonography. Sonographers use highly sophisticated ultrasound technology to create detailed internal images of the body, which physicians can then use to diagnose and monitor diseases. Sonographers require patience, physical stamina, technical competency, and excellent communication skills.

The Associate Degree Nursing Program at NCC prepares graduates to assume entry-level positions as registered nurses who provide safe, competent nursing care in the various settings of our dynamic, evolving healthcare environment. These settings can include but are not limited to hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, long-term care, home care, clinics, physicians' offices, the community, and many other agencies. Successful completion of the program qualifies graduates to apply for licensure as registered nurses and to take the National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN)®. This examination is used by the State Board of Nursing to assess the entry-level nursing competence of candidates for licensure as registered nurses. When the candidate successfully completes the NCLEX-RN ® exam, a license is issued.

Throughout the program, general education courses and nursing courses are combined with client care in clinical settings in hospitals and health care agencies in the area. The nursing courses integrate the nursing process, communication skills, nutrition, pharmacology, and drug administration in the care of clients.
