goals

The Master's Degree in Virology is an official study sponsored by the Spanish Society of Virology (SEV) and is the only official Master's Degree that exists in Spain exclusively on virology.

The Faculties of Biological Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine and Veterinary participate in the University Master's Degree. Teaching is taught by renowned professors and specialists in their field. The teaching is face-to-face, being compulsory to attend the classes. Classes are taught in Spanish and occasionally in English. The Practices and the Final Master's Project are carried out in important research centers, both national and international.

The general objectives of the University Master's Degree are:

  • Know the biology of viruses.
  • Understand their interaction and the consequences on the cells and tissues of the hosts, as well as the defense mechanisms against infection.
  • Know the methodology used to study and characterize viruses.
  • To introduce the student to the applications that Virology has in the different fields of health and research.

After acquiring general knowledge, the subjects are structured in the optional module of specialties, so that the student can design his or her own career.

The specific objectives are:

  • Know which viruses cause infections in man, animals, plants and microorganisms.
  • Understand the process of viral infection in living beings, its diagnosis, prevention and control.
