Enhance your understanding of diabetic foot care with this online short course from King’s College London. Learn from world-leading academics and practising clinicians who set the standards in this field. King’s College Hospital was the first in the world to introduce a multidisciplinary approach to footcare – a standard adopted by the WHO and the International Diabetes Federation in the St Vincent Declaration in 1989. Worldwide, every 20 seconds a lower limb is lost due to diabetes. The rate of diabetes is rising. Many people across the globe are living with this life-changing condition and its long-term complications, including diabetic foot disease. Foot complications have become a serious burden for people with diabetes and if not timely managed, they can lead to lower limb loss. Yet, there’s a simple solution, and it stems from awareness and knowledge. With appropriate care and timely management, more than 80% of lower limb amputations are avoidable. During this short course, students will develop knowledge about the screening and management of diabetic foot disease – vital knowledge for any healthcare professional aiming to stop this upward trend. This course is taught 100% online giving students the flexibility to study alongside other work and life commitments. This short course offers two routes, an 8-week assessed credit-bearing version (15 credits) and a 6-week unassessed version. -
